If you love pears this is a treat for you. I wanted to make a pear tart but I could not be bothered to make any filling. Alas, this is where a galette comes in. It is basically just crust with topping. Perfect for Nonna Lizzie.
Light, sweet and crunchy, this pear hazelnut oat crumble galette will have you wanting another slice asap. Did I sell it hard enough? Lol. Here’s the recipe, try it out for yourself!
Ingredients
Crust:
- GF tart dough
Filling:
-
5 medium sized ripe pears
-
Cinnamon
-
Vanilla essence
-
1 tablespoon honey
Crumble:
-
1/4 cup hazelnuts roughly chopped
-
1/4 cup pistachios roughly chopped
-
1/4 cup oats
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
2 tablespoons brown sugar
-
Pinch of salt
Crumble recipe inspired by Half Baked Harvest

Method
-
PLACE the tart pastry dough on the tart tray. Coast with butter and poke some holes at the base of the dough with a fork. This helps the pastry not to rise too much.
-
‘BLIND BAKE’(this just means baked with nothing on it) the pastry for 5 minutes until slightly cooked. It should be a little toasted.
-
CUT the pears into thin slices. Season with cinnamon, honey and vanilla essence.
-
PLACE the pears on top of the tart and bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees, or until golden.
-
MEANWHILE , make the crumble by cooking all the ingredients in a pan for around 8 minutes. You want the mixture to be golden so be patient : ).
-
ADD the crumble to the pie and finish with icing sugar.
